Achieving QTS Series
A well written and comprehensive book covering most of the essentials the PGCE students will need to support their teaching of Primary English.
This is a well-established text which we recommend for all of our primary courses even though we have written rival texts. Medwell and Wray are leaders in the field and their books are of a consistently high quality.

This book is a very basic guide on the practical aspects of teaching primary English. It is useful for new teachers to have for their personal use but it doesn't explore English teaching in depth.
This has been useful for students who lack confidence in their own subject knowledge in this area.
This books works well in tandem with 'Primary English: Knowledge and understanding' by the same authors. My students find both books interesting, practical and useful.
Recommending this book to my students to support them with a unit on embedding english into the curriculum
This latest and updated incarnation of 'Primary English Teaching and Practice' has maintained the powerful presentation of English pedagogy, within sound theoretical and research-evidenced contexts, that made each previous edition one of the most useful texts for student teachers .
This book continues to be a core text in English modules.
Useful up-to-date with changes to curriculum.
