In this activity, you will consider how we create our gender and sexual identities amid the media we consume.

Write answers to the following questions:

Define gender and sexual identity.
Now, imagine you have been given control of all the media a teenager you love will consume. They can see just ONE television show and ONE movie. Your goal is to help them come up with positive gender and sexual identities. Write down a television show and movie that you want to make sure they see and a TV show and movie that you want to make sure they do not see.
If the teenager saw only the show and movie you do NOT want them to see, what are the potential repercussions for (a) the teenager and (b) society—if all teenagers had this experience?
