SSC is under copyright and the Provider's Guide and Participant's Workbook cannot be copied in part or in whole without written permission of the authors and Sage Publications. No separate parts or pieces of the document may be copied for use in the delivery of the curriculum.
There are two exceptions to this requirement. 1) A poster of Figure 2 on page 14 may be made by the treatment provider to be posted on the wall of the room where the program is presented for quick reference by participants when doing the Cognitive-Behavioral SSC Map exercise. At the bottom of this poster, the following notice must be printed: Copyright © 2008 K. W. Wanberg and Harvey B. Milkman. 2) Worksheet 7, page 42 may be copied as needed since the provider may want clients to practice completing this worksheet around specific events during the program. All other worksheets are so designed that any further practice or work may be done on the worksheet itself in the Participant’s Workbook.
SSC has specific delivery fidelity guidelines which include: All clients must be given and own the Participant’s Workbook; Clients are to complete all SSC sessions to validate that they have completed the SSC program; sessions worksheets are to be completed by the client in the Workbook; resources for making up missed sessions should be provided to each client; and Since SSC is considered to be an alcohol and other drug treatment program, providers need to be sure that they are qualified to deliver SSC within their agency, jurisdiction, county or state.
