Not quite right for the module I teach on but it is definitely a useful text book for other subjects. Some interesting concepts discussed surrounding challenges that practitioners currently face.
The narratives identify the realities and frustrations of living with a long term condition, a true insight into the patients journey. Written in a sensitive and powerful way. The book was engaging and an easy ready whilst raising poignant points.
This book has been written very sensitively through 'snapshot' chapters of various long term conditions. It is interesting and promotes discussion through insightful commentary. I am happy to include it on my reading list in relation to the diabetes and pregnancy chapter, although the whole book is useful. A very poignant chapter written by Sir Terry Pratchett describing dementia through his eyes and experiences which I thoroughly recommend every healthcare professional should read as an example of a patient's journey.
This book provides an understanding of not just long term conditions but how this impacts on the person exploring different aspects of the emotional physical and physiological challenges that may be faced.
This is a clearly written book that is well structured in three sections. I am enjoying reading this book and utilising the information to enhance my lesson plans for teaching 5NH004 module to 2nd year BNurse students.

Excellent text
This is an excellent text that sets out the issues for health and social care professionals on a range of long term illnesses. The chapter on carers is thought provoking, but the whole text also provides a range of information which will be useful to the higher achievers on the module.

I liked the different perspectives put forward in this book and in particular the strong service user voice. The narratives highlight the realities and some of the frustrations of living and dealing with a long term condition and being on the receiving end of health and social care services, raising awareness of issues in a sensitive yet powerful way.
This is a really useful text which challenges the reader to think "outside of the box"
