Packed with helpful advice on supporting and developing the crucial language and communication skills of the children in early years settings, Developing Pre-School Communication and Language provides clear guidance on appropriate expectations for each age group from birth to five. The text includes:
- Advice on how to support language development in all children, including those with special educational needs
- Practical ideas and strategies for practitioners and parents
- Guidance on working with other professionals
- Activities and case studies
- A CD-ROM containing reproducibles
This handbook is ideal for pre-school practitioners, nursery managers, advisory teachers, SENCOs, inclusion officers, and child care and education students and tutors.
'This book will be an invaluable support: a treasure-chest of superb resources, materials, ideas and suggestions for the busy early years practitioner who is keen to develop the language of the children in their care. The CD-ROM will save some of that precious time we all strive to expand, and the practical strategies offered will be a boon to practice in the setting' - Collette Drifte
This is another easy to read and supportive book that works well alongside communication modules of the Early Years degree. With recommendations of activities students can try or adapt for their own placements. I will be recommending this book to students to support them with writing their case studies, but also to help develop their knowledge of activities to help develop communication.
With the increase in children presenting at nursery with speech difficulties this gives an understanding of what children should be doing before they reach that stage. A well presented book.
What an excellent book giving really practical guidance to undergraduate early years students.
