This book is student friendly, accessible and is a very good introduction to ethics and values. The presentation is clear and very well organised. It considers the role of advocacy and empowerment which is essential in the social work role. The use of case studies helps to assist the reader to grasp and consolidate their learning.
Not all our student will go onto social work however some are interested in finding out more so this is a useful text for additional reading
I have used this book especially at first year level of the under-graduate programme. A must read for those at this stage of study.

This is a well-structured and well-written book on values in relation to social work. It is pleasing to see chapters on values in relation to managing risk, professional accountability, working in an organisation and advocacy. The introduction comes from an AOP perspective and this is well-rationalised as a context for values in social work practice.
