This is an excellent, accessible book for introducing early years practitioners to the concept of play based mathematical learning. There are clear links to underpinning theory of learning and pedagogy, suggested frameworks for planning and resourcing activities, and useful strategies for observing and assessing children. Overall, this text does a good job in guiding practitioners to consider how the whole of the learning environment can be used to support mathematical understanding in young children through their own play as well as through adult initiatited activites.

This is a wonderful book for teaching mathematical knowledge and undeerstanding in a creative manner. It has many ideas and acts as a platform for many more. It has ideas, plans, exapmles, resources etc and I particularly liked the chapter on creative recording.
