Not all students are willing to read around the topic of integrative therapy or research across other modalities, but for those who are interested I point them in the direction of this book.
For many of our students who are new to the study of therapeutic models, this book will be of great value. Well written and highly informative, even for more experienced practitioners.
An excellent book with relevance to those embarking on their initial counselling training as well as those studying at a more advanced academic level, as it offers clear introductory information about a range of therapies.
A wonderful comprehensive guide to all lecturers teaching on an Honours Degree Programme in Counselling and Psychotherapy. A little heavy laden for students, but well equipped to aid the lecturer with detailed and up to date information and research on the subject.
Gives a clear, cogent overview of a range of therapies offered today, and I feel that this book could be suitable for pre and post registration students alike. I will be adopting it as recommended reading within a Psychological interventions module as part of the Mental Health Nursing Undergraduate programme, as well as a forthcoming CPD module, commencing later this year.
This is an excellent book having material relevant to several modules on the BSc. Psychology Programme and also the FdSc. Mental Health Practice modules covering therapeutic interventions. Highly recommended.

I have found this book very useful to offer my students an “enough deep” introduction to the most important approaches to psychological treatments. Although the book is framed the Britain context, the majority therapeutic models reviewed are also popular in Spain. I have appreciated the book puts every psychotherapeutic tradition in a cultural and historical context. Also, the fact that each chapter has the same structure allows an easy search of the critical themes and a useful way to make easier the comparisons between approaches.
The essential handbook to turn to for a clear introduction to UK modalities and more - some really useful additions in the new edition.
This has been a core text for a number of years now and the new edition will continue to be a firm favourite with students.

Great text. Not only presents a number of main therapeutic orientations, but also acknowledges the more recent developments in individual therapy which makes this an up-to-date valuable resource.
