Hubert Knoblauch TU Berlin, Germany
Hubert Knoblauch is a Professor of General Sociology at Technische Universität Berlin, specializing in the Theory of Modern Societies. He studied sociology, philosophy, and history at the University of Konstanz and anthropology and linguistics at the University of Sussex. Hubert completed his PhD in 1987 and his habilitation in 1994.
His research encompasses a wide range of topics, including sociological theory, sociology of knowledge, sociology of communication and language, sociology of religion, and qualitative methods, particularly videography. Hubert's work also explores religious movements, near-death experiences, and the societal role of knowledge.
Previously, Hubert held a Professorship in the Sociology of Religion at the University of Zurich. He is currently the Vice Spokesperson of the Collaborative Research Center “Re-Figuration of Spaces” (SFB 1265) and Speaker for the Research Network “Social Theory” in the European Sociological Association.
