Journal of School Leadership

ISSN: 10526846 | Current volume: 34 | Current issue: 3 Frequency: Bi-monthly

The Journal of School Leadership provides scholarly articles related to the broad conception of school leadership. The journal promotes the development of knowledge from a diversity of ways in which this topic can be explored.

The journal includes studies related to administrative leadership in schools and school districts, but also manuscripts that involves teacher leadership, student, parent, and community initiatives as key in the development of knowledge about school leadership. We strongly encourage authors to consider both local and global aspects of their work, especially with implications for practice, research, and policy.

Outstanding Reviewer Award 2018: Jayson Richardson, University of Kentucky
In recognition for valuable reviewers, an Outstanding Reviewer of the Year is recognized during the editorial executive meeting held at the University Council for Educational Administration yearly convention.

The Journal of School Leadership invites the submission of manuscripts that promotes the exchange of ideas and scholarship about schools and leadership in education. All theoretical and methodological approaches are welcome.

The editors advocate for non–biased approaches toward any mode of inquiry (e.g., qualitative vs. quantitative; empirical vs. conceptual; discipline-based vs. interdisciplinary) and encourage any methodologically sound research with the potential to contribute to further informing the craft of school leadership. As such, JSL embraces a broad conception of school leadership and welcomes manuscripts that reflect the diversity of ways in which this topic is researched.

The journal provides a platform not only for manuscripts that focus on administrative leadership in schools and school districts, but also in manuscripts that explores teacher leadership, student, parent, and community leadership. In addition, the journal considers manuscripts that explore the relationship between leadership and:

    Assistance with English Language Submissions

Authors interested in refining the use of English in their manuscripts might consider using the services of a professional English-language editing company. We highlight some of these companies at http://www.sagepub.com/journalgateway/engLang.htm.

Please be aware that Sage has no affiliation with these companies and makes no endorsement of them. An author's use of these services in no way guarantees that his or her submission will ultimately be accepted. Any arrangement an author enters into will be exclusively between the author and the particular company, and any costs incurred are the sole responsibility of the author.

    Special Issues

In addition to its regular anonymize-refereed empirical or conceptual manuscripts, the Journal of School Leadership editorial team promotes special issues once a year. On even years, invitations for Guest Editors are open where the editors select the manuscripts based on significant and timely topics in educational leadership. On odd years, a theme is selected by the editors and associate editors for open submission. Those interested in submitting proposals for a special issue should contact the editor(s) for guidelines.
For more information about submitting manuscripts to Sage publications, please refer to the Sage Manuscript Submission Guidelines.
