TAQA, and other assessor and quality assurer trainees will find this text both an invaluable resource for their course and useful handbook to take into practice. Please note: This book has since been updated into two books: Principles and Practices of Assessment, and Principles and Practices of Quality Assurance.
Good clear guidance on the way forward. Ideal for those new to the field
This was shared amongst a a few of the studnets who had just finished their Award submissions and all wished they had had it to start with. it has an Easy reference, well written to make an engaging but informed read. Full of really practical help and examples. A good book for this Award for any level of reader.
I recommend this book for our students on the Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement course and the Certificate in Internal Quality Assurance of achievement. It is comprehensive , well laid out and well referenced to the standards
Part of the level 5 Diploma in training and education there are option units and those optional units that can be chosen are quality assurance units which most of the students have chosen. This book will help achieve those units and answer the questions. Also to grasp a better understanding of the process.
An essential reference book for students undertaking TAQA award. The text is in an accessible format and provides everything the student needs to pass.
Have not fully read this book as yet, but there are chapters that align with quality assurance and the teaching programme
Good structure
Links to units well
Clear and to the point
This book is clearly structured and valuable both to trainee assessors and IQAs. I liked the use of examples to illustrate particular points.
Updated and still the best on the market
A great book which is easy to access for all levels of students. We like the links to the national standards for those working towards their Assessor Award. It is good that they can go on to gain greater insight into the whole process of assessing and quality assurance even if they don't technically need this at this stage. For those who do not wish to read further into the book there is plenty of material to help them to understand and start to implement good assessment practice. One small criticism is that whilst the book acknowledges that not all assessing is linked to qualifications, it is heavily biased this way - in common with most texts. It would be nice in its next revision to have more emphasis on assessment as an aspect of performance management rather than the pursuit of qualifications.
