This is a great book and I'm happy to include it on my reading lists for a module on conflict resolution. It deals with political violence in ways that are outside the usual political science approaches and offers an invaluable set of cases that broaden the way students understand what's happening.
This is a great book and I'm happy to include it on my reading lists for a module on conflict resolution. It deals with a fairly narrow range of political violence, however, so it probably isn't going to be one of the 5 or 6 books that I recommend students buy to help them with the entire module.
This is a very useful book for my anthropology of conflict and anthropology of politics modules. It provides a valuable interface between the more legalistic/political science approaches and the anthropological approaches that we deal with more commonly.
This is an excellent textbook, and, in fact, I am going to switch from using many different sources, book chapters etc. to structuring my course around the textbook. What I particularly liked was the fact that this doesn't mean that I have to revamp the course, since most of the topics addressed in my classes so far are covered by the book, in a condensed yet substantial manner. Students will like it! I already ordered a couple of copies for our university's library, and I will strongly recommend to the students that this is a book they could (and 'should') buy.
The course being taught at Level 6 to final year students at CCCU is Terrorism and Political Violence so this is especially timely and relevant.
I enjoyed the book and thought it well-written and wide-ranging.

A key text in the study of terrorism
An excellent 3 part introduction to terrorism studies that will be highly recommended to students. This book links with my module clearly and will be much used.
A useful book for students new to PV. This acquaints students with an understanding of terrorism and the instrumental use of PV>
This text is very good but is not relevant to the programme.
Nice addition to the syllabus. Won't be a core reading, but recommended. Interesting chapters, but will be hard to "sell" chapters from graduate students on well established topics if there are so many advanced scholars out there who have worked on the topic.
