This is a very engaging text and I will use it for planning a couple of lectures on this course. I will also recommend to my library. It is a little too focused to be the main text for my course, but definitely good supplemental reading.
A central topic for journalism students. The whole subject of what is news and how to write it has come into focus in the internet age, when so many young people do not understand what news is.
This is an excellent book that offers a historical analysis of news values starting with Galtung and Ruge, critiques of theories and and an examination of how news values have evolved across the media.
