Rene´ Moelker is an associate professor of sociology at the Netherland Defense Academy. He holds a PhD from the Erasmus University Rotterdam. His work in military sociology focuses on the sociology of military families, technology, profession, education, conflict in Chechnya, media, and veterans. With Stephen Mennell, he coedited a posthumously published book by Norbert Elias titled The Genesis of the Naval Profession (2007). The latest book project is titled Riding with Veterans. Motorcycles, Veterans and their Quest for Healing (Springer Verlag).
