A very useful book for all early years level 4 and level 5 students
Excellent resource for all early years level 4 and level 5 students! Written in an engaging style, the book provides a great starting point for researching the relevant issues in more depth.
A really useful which looks critically and analytically at a number of theories and approaches to learning in the early years. A very helpful text for undergraduates.
What I liked about this book was the summary at the end of each chapter, and the further reading including websites, books and references. An excellent resource for those studying at level 5 and applying theorists thoughts and beliefs to how children develop. Have used this book to suppplement my teaching of Unit 3 and 5 on HNC Advanced Practice.
This is a valuable source of information on theorists. Chapter 1 gives a contextual background on Reggio Emilia education. The final thoughts sections are particularly insightful. The chapters also provide good questions for discussion which could be used in lessons to develop reflection. I found the further reading sections linking to the different levels too for stretching students. Although it is aimed at level 5 and above, the book could still be used as a supplement for level 3 students who need to be stretched further in their research skills and to develop wider reading.
An excellent book for students studying at a higher level, that want to have a more indepth understanding of theoretical concepts.

This book is an invaluable material for discussions on the foundational theories of learning in early childhood. The theories are well-analysed and are straight to the point.
