This book, in a very clear and concrete way allows students to aprehend a whole project cycle and its component phases. With a perspective very targeted for intervention with children and families, it goes through all phases of a project cycle (from diagnosis to final assessment) explaining strategies and providing very concrete clues of how to intervene.
I have recommended this book to learners studying safeguarding modules within Early Years Studies. the chapter on setting the scene is particularly beneficial, giving a useful explanation of why we are where we are in terms of legislation and policy. not just of use for social work students, this is also helpful for any Early Years students
I found this book to be an interesting and informative read and each chapter takes you through the assessment process that enables the reader to revisit if experienced and if new to social work, taking through the process of an assessment and what should be covered and addressed in undertaking an assessment.
